From 19 September until 25 February 2026, Toraya will hold an exhibition on the color red(aka in Japanese) at the Tokyo Midtown Store Gallery.

In Japan, the color red has long been revered as having special meaning.
Its significance goes beyond its striking brilliance. Red evokes the sun, fire, and blood, and has therefore been seen both as a symbol of the strength and vitality of life, and also as a sacred color with the power to ward off evil.
For this reason, the color red has traditionally appeared in many aspects of daily life, from ceremonies and festivals to celebratory attire and food.
This exhibition explores the many forms of the color red that surround us, demonstrating the hidden “power” of the color red and the important role it has played in people’s lives and culture.
